This is sermon #7 in our series through First Peter. In this series, we will see that God has a people for His own possession who are called to live holy lives in an unholy age. In this sermon from 1 Peter 2:18–25, Dr. Andrew White tackles the difficult subject of slavery as Peter, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, urges slaves to submit to their masters for the glory of God. We are to submit to our rulers (employers, leaders, authorities) with fear of the Lord because God is pleased when we suffer for His sake. After all, Jesus suffered unjustly on our behalf, so that we could be saved and sanctified. We follow His example and walk in His steps when we suffer unjustly for His sake.
I. We Submit and Suffer to Receive a Reward (vv. 18–20)
II. We Submit and Suffer to Imitate our True Master (vv. 21–25)
