This is sermon #8 in our series examining biblical theology, where we trace the story line of the Bible in 12 weeks. In this sermon, Dr. Andrew White examines the purpose of the Incarnation from Matthew 1:18–25. In this text, the angel told Joseph that Jesus would be born “to save His people from their sins.” We rejoice this Christmas season because Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit to the virgin Mary for the express purpose of saving His people from their sins!
I. Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit (vv. 18–20)
II. Jesus was born to die (v. 21)
III. Jesus was born among us (vv. 22–23)
IV. Jesus was adopted (vv. 24–25)
