SERMON: Defender – Psalm 3

It is our normal practice to preach through entire books of the Bible. We intend to practice systematic exposition even through the longest books. Our strategy for preaching through the Psalms is to take several shorter trips through the book. If the Lord allows, we plan to preach several chapters of the Psalms each summer. In the summer of 2018, we have begun “A Summer of Psalms, Volume 1.”

In Psalm 3, King David is in a desperate situation, running for his life. In his sermon from Psalm 3, Dr. Andrew White helps us see that God is our defender. We can boldly approach the throne of grace in times of trouble because God cares for us. Just as God answered David’s prayer, He will answer ours. Just as God delivered David from trouble, we can trust Him to deliver us.

Two resources Andrew mentioned in his sermon:
1. The song Defender by Kings Kaleidoscope
2. The preaching of Dr. Charlie Dates, pastor of Progressive Baptist Church in Chicago, IL.
