This is sermon #5 in our series called “One-Hit Wonders,” where we will examine each of the one-chapter books in the Bible.
We continue our series with the book of Obadiah. In this Old Testament minor prophet, Obadiah announces that God will judge the nation of Edom for its treachery against God’s people. He also proclaims that judgment will come on the Day of the Lord against all of God’s enemies. In this sermon from Obadiah verses 1–21, Dr. Andrew White urges God’s enemies to lay down their arms, repent, and be reconciled to God and His people. He also urges God’s people to warn those who oppose God of future judgment. The Good News is that while God will pour out His wrath on His enemies, for those who call upon the name of Jesus Christ, God has already poured out His wrath on His own Son! That means you can avoid God’s wrath and rest in His grace if you will turn from your sin and trust Jesus for your salvation! YES! It’s the gospel of Jesus from an angry Old Testament prophet!
